A Legacy of Faithfulness with Dan Stroup

I sit down with a man who has impacted generations — my former 8th-grade Bible teacher, Mr. Dan Stroup. For over 40 years, Dan faithfully taught middle schoolers not just about Scripture, but about how to live it. He’s a beloved mentor, known for his gentle spirit, Christlike humility, and unwavering devotion to making every student feel seen, heard, and loved.

Dan shares his upbringing as the youngest of nine children, how he discovered his love for the Bible, and what it meant to spend four decades in the classroom. We talk about his incredible tradition of writing birthday letters to every student he’s ever taught — a simple act that continues to echo love and care long after the classroom days are over.

We also explore his personal journey of loss and hope: walking through the grief of losing his beloved wife to cancer, becoming a widower, wrestling with loneliness and questions for God — and eventually, finding love again with his wife Susie.
Dan's story is filled with wisdom, gentleness, and the steady faithfulness of a man who has walked closely with the Lord. Whether you had him as a teacher or not, this episode will bless and inspire you.
